The acclaimed director of Lagaan, Swades, and Jodhaa Akbar, Ashutosh Gowariker, is all set to team up with the rising star of Kannada cinema, Rishab Shetty, for a pan-India film. The yet-untitled project will be a multi-lingual film that will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
According to sources, Ashutosh and Rishab have been in talks for a while now and have finalized the script after several meetings. The film is said to be a period drama that will showcase the rich culture and history of India.
Rishabh Shetty Rose To Fame With Kantara
Rishab Shetty is known for his critically and commercially successful film, Kantara, which was released in 2022. The film was a cultural drama that depicted the life of a tribal community in Karnataka. Rishab not only acted as the lead actor but also directed and co-wrote the film.
Rishab is currently working on the prequel of Kantara, which is expected to go on floors by the end of this year and release in 2024. He will start shooting for Ashutosh’s film after completing his work on Kantara 2.
Ashutosh Gowariker is one of the most respected and celebrated directors in Indian cinema. He has directed films that have been nominated for prestigious awards such as the Academy Awards, the BAFTA Awards, and the Golden Globe Awards. His films are known for their grand scale, opulent treatment, and historical accuracy.
Ashutosh has worked with some of the biggest stars in Bollywood such as Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Priyanka Chopra. He has also ventured into acting and played the lead role in the Marathi comedy-drama Ventilator in 2016.
Ashutosh Gowariker last directed Panipat starring Arjun Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. Film was commercial disaster. It got negative reviews from critics too.
The collaboration of Ashutosh and Rishab is expected to create a lot of buzz and excitement among the fans of both the directors and actors. The film will be a rare opportunity to witness the fusion of two different styles of filmmaking and storytelling.
