For years, fans have been asking for a sequel to the 2007 action drama Awarapan, and their wish has finally come true. The shoot for Awarapan 2 has officially begun! Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani have kicked off a 40-day shooting schedule in Bangkok, Thailand, under the direction of Nitin Kakkar.
The original film left a lasting impact, and the news of a sequel has already created a massive buzz. The team is now in Thailand to film some of the most crucial parts of the movie, including major action scenes and songs. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on April 3, 2026.
The Story Picks Up Where It Left Off
In the most exciting update, sources have revealed that Awarapan 2 will begin exactly where the first film ended. Fans will remember that Emraan’s character, Shivam, was shot in Bangkok in the final scenes of Awarapan. The sequel will start from this very point, showing Shivam coming back to life.
He will then meet Disha Patani’s character, who will play a key role in helping him with his next mission. This continuation of the story is something fans have been hoping for, and it sets a very interesting tone for the sequel.
High-Octane Action In Bangkok
The team, led by director Nitin Kakkar and producer Vishesh Bhatt, is currently filming a high-energy action sequence in a busy local market in Bangkok. This extensive 40-day schedule in Thailand has been planned to complete all the major action set-pieces and songs. To ensure no pictures or videos get leaked from the sets, the producers have arranged for heavy security, as they are shooting in real and crowded locations.
New Looks And Intense Training
Emraan Hashmi will be seen in a completely new look in Awarapan 2. While he was a gangster with a scruffy look in the original, his character has now matured after experiencing great loss. He will be seen sporting a lean frame and a French beard. Disha Patani is also set for an action-packed role. She has reportedly gone through intense training for the film, as she will be performing many of her own stunts and action sequences.
After wrapping up the Thailand schedule by early November, the team will head back to Mumbai. Two more schedules are planned in Mumbai to film the emotional scenes on large sets. The post-production work is scheduled for early 2026.
