Awarapan 2: Emraan Hashmi And Vishesh Bhatt Wrap Shoot As Shivam’S Big Screen Return Moves Closer

Shivam is officially closer to returning to the big screen. Vishesh Films has wrapped the shoot of Awarapan 2, giving Emraan Hashmi fans a major update on one of Hindi cinema’s most closely watched sequels. The film is scheduled to release worldwide in cinemas on August 14, 2026.

The update carries obvious emotional weight for fans of the 2007 original, a film whose music, melancholy and bruised romanticism have continued to travel across generations. With filming now complete, the sequel moves into its next phase as Vishesh Bhatt and the team prepare to bring back one of Emraan’s defining screen identities.

Awarapan 2 Wraps Filming

Vishesh Films confirmed the wrap on social media, sharing a glimpse from the set as the team marked the completion of the shoot. The sequel has been filmed across Rajasthan and South East Asia, giving the story a wider visual canvas while staying close to the mood associated with the franchise.

Emraan Hashmi returns as Shivam, while Disha Patani joins the world of Awarapan 2 in her first collaboration with Vishesh Films. The film is written by Bilal Siddiqi and directed by Nitin Kakkar, with Vishesh Bhatt producing the project.

Speaking earlier about revisiting the title, Vishesh Bhatt said, “Awarapan is an emotion so large that it’s meant for the big screen.” He added that the sequel remains rooted in “layered storytelling with powerful characters and rich music.” On Emraan slipping back into the part, Bhatt said, “Emraan felt the angst of Shivam so deeply that he stepped into character in a heartbeat.” He also said, “With Disha joining us, the world of the film opened up to new possibilities.”

The Film’S World And Emotional Stakes

Awarapan 2 is being shaped as an action drama built around love, loss and redemption. The sequel extends the emotional territory of the original Awarapan, which followed a lonely, conflicted man whose search for meaning gave the film its lasting ache.

The first film, directed by Mohit Suri and released in 2007, starred Emraan Hashmi with Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma and Ashutosh Rana. Over time, its soundtrack and Shivam’s wounded emotional arc helped it grow into a cult favourite, particularly among viewers who connected with its darker take on romance and sacrifice.

The new film now carries that legacy forward with a larger scale and a clear theatrical ambition.

Emraan Hashmi’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Emraan Hashmi’s recent run has kept him active across theatres and streaming. He appeared in Selfiee in 2023 with Akshay Kumar, followed by his antagonist turn as Aatish Rehman in the commercially successful Tiger 3 alongside Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. In 2024, he made a special appearance in Ae Watan Mere Watan on Amazon Prime Video and headlined Showtime on Disney+ Hotstar.

In 2025, Emraan led Ground Zero and also featured in the Telugu film They Call Him OG, along with Haq. His confirmed upcoming slate includes Awarapan 2 and the Telugu spy action film G2, keeping his career spread across Hindi cinema and pan India projects.
