Emraan Hashmi reprises the role of Shivam in the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Awarapan. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film has achieved cult status over the years, despite its initial rejection by audiences in theaters back in 2007. Nearly two decades later, the sequel is set to hit theaters in April 2026. Disha Patani stars alongside Awarapan 2 as the female lead, while Nitin Kakkar directs this romantic narrative.
Awarapan 2 set image surfaces
The production of Awarapan 2 is progressing rapidly as it approaches its April 3, 2026, release date. While Emraan and Disha Patani are filming for the sequel, a photo from the set has gone viral online. The image showcased the actor wearing a leather jacket, a black T-shirt, and trousers, while the actress was seen in a modest printed ethnic outfit.

Emraan Hashmi provides update on Awarapan 2
In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Hashmi offered insights on Awarapan 2, stating, “It features incredible music and gripping, intense scenes. I won’t reveal much now; you’ll find out when you watch the movie.”
He added, “Awarapan has been a topic of conversation for nearly six years. There was a discussion before COVID, and I questioned, ‘How can you bring Shivam back?’ The original film concluded with his apparent death. However, we brainstormed ideas, and I believe we came up with something truly remarkable in 2022 when my friend Bilal presented the script, which aligns perfectly and advances the brand.”
The actor further noted, “This isn’t merely an attempt to exploit Awarapan or its devoted fanbase — which it undeniably has. I notice whenever I interact with fans, they express, ‘We adore these films,’ but Awarapan has elicited a deep, significant response from viewers, and its fanbase has expanded over the years — nearly eight years now. Some fans even have Awarapan tattoos on their arms and such.”
On March 24, Emraan confirmed Awarapan 2 with a teaser on social media. His post read, “Just keep me alive a little longer… #Awarapan2 in theaters, 3rd April 2026.”
