Mohit Suri Hails Awarapan 2 Trailer, Tells Emraan Hashmi ‘my Hero’ And Backs August 14 Release

Mohit Suri’s reaction to the Awarapan 2 trailer has added a strong emotional pulse to the sequel’s rollout, with the filmmaker publicly embracing the new chapter of a film that has stayed close to him for nearly two decades. As the original director of Awarapan, Suri did not just offer a routine word of support. He framed the sequel as something deeply personal, reconnecting with the memory of a film that continues to hold meaning for him 19 years later.

His note also underlined the continuity behind the scenes. While Awarapan 2 moves ahead with a new creative team, Suri’s message makes it clear that the sequel still carries the emotional DNA of the 2007 film. That is what gives his endorsement weight, especially with Emraan Hashmi returning to one of the most remembered titles of his career.

Mohit Suri’S Emotional Note On The Trailer

Sharing his response to the trailer, Suri opened on an intimate note, writing, “This one feels special. Like a long-lost love, like an old friend you haven’t met in years but still deeply miss.” He followed that with another line that captured just how strongly the original still stays with him: “19 years later, and this movie still matters so much to me.”

He then praised the new team for reviving a story so closely tied to his own journey. Addressing director Nitin Kakkar, Suri wrote, “Thank you, @nitinrkakkar , for bringing back something that is so close to my heart and for doing it with so much love, flourish, sensitivity and heart.” He extended that warmth to the wider crew as well, saying the trailer brought back memories and that the people involved had done “such a brilliant job.”

Among the most talked-about parts of the post was his message for Emraan Hashmi. Suri called him “my hero” and made his admiration unmistakable, while also cheering Disha Patani with a note of affection and pride. He closed by backing the film’s theatrical outing in direct terms, urging audiences to watch Awarapan 2 in cinemas on August 14.

Nitin Kakkar And Vishesh Films Take Charge Of The Sequel

Awarapan 2 is currently listed for an August 14, 2026 release, with Nitin Kakkar directing and Bilal Siddiqi credited as writer. IMDb listings also identify Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi among the cast, while the title is associated with Vishesh Films and producers including Mukesh Bhatt. The original Awarapan, released in 2007, was directed by Suri and featured Hashmi in the lead role.

Emraan Hashmi’s Recent And Upcoming Work

For Emraan Hashmi, Awarapan 2 fits into a career phase where nostalgia projects are meeting a more varied screen lineup. His recent releases include Tiger 3 in 2023 and Ae Watan Mere Watan in 2024, where IMDb lists him in a guest appearance as Lohia. His upcoming slate also includes G2 and the series Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, both currently listed for 2026. Seen in that context, Awarapan 2 stands out not just as a legacy sequel, but as a return to a brooding romantic action space that helped define his screen identity in the first place.

He has poor box office record and this might end 13 year drought at box office.
