Ayushmann Khurrana Boards Mupapa As YRF And Posham Pa Begin First Theatrical Collaboration

Ayushmann Khurrana has locked a major new theatrical project, and this one carries the weight of a fresh studio alliance behind it. The actor will headline Mupapa, the first theatrical collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Posham Pa Pictures, turning the announcement into a significant move not just for his slate, but for two production houses launching a new big-screen chapter together.

The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on February 19, 2027. For Khurrana, whose career has often thrived on stories with a distinct tonal identity, Mupapa adds another major title to a line-up built around originality over routine star vehicles.

Yrf And Posham Pa Launch Their Big-Screen Partnership With Mupapa

Mupapa will be produced by YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani and directed by Sameer Saxena. This marks Widhani’s second outing as a producer after Saiyaara, while Saxena brings to the film his experience as a showrunner and director known for Kaala Paani. The project is also the first title to emerge from the YRF and Posham Pa Pictures partnership announced in December 2024.

The two banners are building a theatrical slate together, with Mupapa opening that chapter. In its description of the film, YRF said it will “deliver an incredibly new visual experience for people in theaters” and “will keep the audience at the edge of the seats from the word go.”

Posham Pa Pictures’ creative team includes Sameer Saxena, Biswapati Sarkar, Saurabh Khanna and Amit Golani, who have collectively and individually been associated with well-received titles such as Kaala Paani and Maamla Legal Hai. On the studio side, the film also reflects Aditya Chopra’s broader push to expand YRF’s creative and production partnerships. For Khurrana, that scale matters, because Mupapa places him at the center of a launch title designed to define a new theatrical partnership from the outset.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Khurrana was last seen in Dream Girl 2 in 2023, returning to one of his most commercially successful comic spaces with the duality of Karam and Pooja. That followed An Action Hero and Doctor G in 2022, two releases that underlined how consistently he has moved between satire, comedy and offbeat mainstream storytelling within the last few years.

His announced upcoming releases include Thamma in 2025 and Pati Patni Aur Woh Do in 2026, while Mupapa is firmly locked for February 2027. Taken together, the line-up positions Khurrana in the next stretch of his career with a mix of familiar audience pull and fresh creative bets, and this new YRF and Posham Pa collaboration stands as a notable marker in that run.
