Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, riding the wave of his recent success with Thamma, has formally welcomed rising star Aneet Padda into the Maddock Films’s expanding horror-comedy lineup, the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). The announcement comes just as Padda is revealed to be the lead in the next franchise instalment, titled Shakti Shalini.
The MHCU, which previously featured titles such as Stree, Bhediya and Munjya, has become one of Bollywood’s most talked-about genre universes. With Thamma setting the latest benchmark for the franchise’s box-office and fan engagement, the entry of a fresh lead like Aneet is being seen as a bold expansion move by the studio.
A Warm Welcome with Punjabi Pride
On Instagram Stories, Ayushmann shared a heartfelt message for his fellow Punjabi: “Welcome to the MHCU, @aneetpadda… Punjabi aa gaye oye!! From one dreamer to another – keep chasing what you want. Nothing is impossible… so proud to see someone from Punjab making us all proud. Can’t wait to see you shine in Shakti Shalini! Onwards and upwards, Aneet.”
Aneet responded with gratitude, noting that the message felt “a little extra special coming from someone I look up to so much.”

Aneet Padda in Shakti Shalini
The casting of Aneet Padda, known for her performance in Saiyaara, marks the film as one of MHCU’s most high-profile female-led entries. According to recent reports, the movie is slated for a December 24, 2026 release, with principal photography expected to kick off in early 2026.
Given the franchise ties and shared universe framework, audiences will be keen to see how Shakti Shalini connects to previous entries and what fresh elements it brings to the horror-comedy mix.
