Ayushmann Khurrana’s Anek Did Poorly In Theatres But Performed Amazingly Well On Netflix

Anek is Ayushmann’s second collaboration with director Anubhav, following the 2019 film Article 15.

Movies that couldn’t do well on the big screen now have a benefit owing to OTT. One such movie is Anek, which did horribly in theatres but astonishingly well on Netflix.

Anek garnered mixed responses from critics and the crowd because different people had different ideas. The fact that Netflix did not advertise the movie as aggressively as it did Gangubai Kathiawadi or Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is the most shocking thing about this situation. Anek, on the other hand, was the second-most-watched non-English film in the world and was able to earn the watch hour.

Bhool Bhulaiya 2, a horror-comedy starring Kiara Advani, Karthik Aryan, and Tabu, has continued to dominate Netflix’s list of watch hours. Anek, however, was able to overcome it and take second place among non-English movies in terms of viewership.

Anek, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Andrea Kevichusa, is co-produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks. The movie was shot in Northeast India. Anek is Ayushmann’s second collaboration with director Anubhav, following the 2019 film Article 15.
