Ayushmann Khurrana’s Anek, directed by Anubhav Sinha to release in cinemas on March 31

Anek, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, will be released in theatres on March 31, 2022. The actor announced the news on social media. Anek is a socio-political thriller directed by Anubhav Sinha and set in the Northeast. Ayushmann claimed the film will “usher in a different language of cinema” when announcing the release date.

Ayushmann Khurrana, who is now on holiday with his family in the Maldives, announced on social media that his upcoming film, Anek, will be released in theatres on March 31, 2019. In the film, directed by Anubhav Sinha, Ayushmann will appear in a never-before-seen role.

Sharing a still from the film, Ayushmann wrote, “Thrilled to reunite with @anubhavsinhaa for a character that pushed me out of my comfort zone & with #BhushanKumar as a support system, #Anek will usher in a different language of cinema. Mark the date for this socio-political thriller: 31.03.2022 (sic).”

The film was originally scheduled to hit theatres on September 17, 2021. The release was pushed back owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Anek began shooting in February of this year, with a busy schedule in the Northeast of the country. Anek is Anubhav’s most expensive and large-scale film to date, according to reports. Joshua is played by Ayushmann in the socio-political thriller. Anubhav is the actor’s second collaboration with him. He previously collaborated with the filmmaker on the critically praised 2019 film Article 15.
