Babil Khan’s Breakdown Sparks Concern Across Bollywood: Deleted Video, Deleted Instagram, and A Wave of Worry
Babil Khan, the son of deceased legend Irrfan Khan, sent shockwaves through the industry when he posted and then deleted a tearful video where he blasted several popular Bollywood celebrities and referred to the industry as “screwed”. The video, which went viral due to reposts on Reddit, has since caused quite a stir around Babil’s mental health and well-being.
While the original video was deleted within a couple of hours, Reddit users were able to save and spread clips that show the actor crying, slurring, and naming stars Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, and singer Arijit Singh.
In the video, Babil lamented:
“There are so many more names… Bollywood is so f*****. Bollywood is so screwed.”
He added in another segment:
“Bollywood is the most fakest, fakest, fakest industry I’ve ever been part of… But there are a few people who want it to be better.”
“Nobody Talks About This”: Fans Share Anxiety About Babil
The video has started new discussions about mental health and toxicity in Bollywood. Fans expressed sympathy, implying that Babil — despite being a star kid — seems disassociated from strong white character cliques in the business. Many referenced his heartfelt poem he shared on the fifth-year anniversary of Irrfan Khan’s death — in which he eerily finished by saying, “Soon I’ll be there, with you, not without you.”
One Redditor wrote:
“He’s clearly hurting. That line in his poem was a cry for help. Someone close to him needs to step in.”
Another added:
“Even being a nepo kid, he’s treated like an outsider. The Dharma clique doesn’t spare anyone.”
Babil Deletes Instagram, Fans Worried
Soon after the video became popular, Babil deleted his entire Instagram account, which alarmed fans even more. As a source close to Babil explained:
“Babil was feeling a lot of anxiety recently, mostly because the pressure of being Irrfan Khan’s son in a very competitive industry while trying to be honest was challenging. The industry is harsh at times especially because honesty and compassion are left at the door.”
A Brave and Transparent Artist
Babil has always been brave and transparent about his feelings. From pouring his heart out in poetry about the loss of his father to breaking down the pretentious bullshit in the industry, Babil has always been willing to take risks that many of his peers avoided. However, this latest episode suggests there are deeper undercurrents.
From Qala to Logout: A Talented Young Artist Fighting Inner Demons
Babil made his Hindi film debut with Qala (2022) and was then in Friday Night Plan (2023). He starred in YRF’s Oscar-nominated web series, The Railway Men, and was last seen in ZEE5’s Logout, a cyber thriller. His work has always been layered and nuanced, with the emerging talent never shying away from a shockingly emotional performance. But this public breakdown does not leave us with an impression of a budding artist who is biting the hand that feeds with a melee of emotional dexterity.
