BAFTA 2023: Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi Out Of The Race; RRR Makes The Cut To The Longlist. Details Inside!

RRR has entered the BAFTA 2023 longlist in the 'Film not in the English language' category

The much-awaited BAFTA 2023 longlist (British Academy Film Awards) has been announced in 24 categories in which RRR has made its position. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film was one of the biggest blockbusters in India. Now, it has entered the BAFTA 2023 longlist in the ‘Film not in the English language’ category.

Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi is reportedly out of the BAFTA 2023 longlist race. The final BAFTA 2023 nominations will be announced on January 19 while the awards ceremony will take place on February 19 at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall.

As per reports, Gangubai Kathiawadi was submitted in all major categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Leading Actress. But Sanjay Leela Bhansali directional is, however, out of the BAFTA race.

The Ram Charan-Jr NTR starrer, on the other hand, shares space with ”All Quiet on the Western Front”, ”Argentina, 1985”, ”Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths”, ”Close”, ”Corsage”, ”Decision To Leave”, ”EO”, ”Holy Spider”, and ”The Quiet Girl.”

The biographical drama, Gangubai Kothewali, is based on a real-life sex worker who later emerged as a mafia queen. While, RRR revolves around two most respected freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komuram Bheem.
