In recent years, Pradeep Sarkar, a filmmaker, had devoted his attention to the biopic of Noti Binodini that he was scheduled to film with Kangana Ranaut. However, few were aware that the director, who passed away on March 24, was concurrently working on another screenplay. According to mid-day’s sources, the deceased director had been discussing a romantic musical thriller with Emraan Hashmi. Supposedly, the actor had expressed interest in the concept and was awaiting the completed script before making a decision.
“Over the past few years, filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar was focused on the Noti Binodini biopic that he was to shoot with Kangana Ranaut. But not many know that the director, who passed away on March 24, was simultaneously developing another script. mid-day has learnt that the late filmmaker was in talks with Emraan Hashmi for a romantic musical thriller. The actor had apparently liked the concept, and was to take a call after reading the final draft of the script,” Mid-day quoted its source as saying.
The filmmaker and actor had a meeting earlier this year to discuss a project. The plan was for the movie to start filming in August if everything went as intended. According to a source, the filmmaker was encouraged by Emraan’s positive response to the idea, and was in the process of writing the story and screenplay when he passed away. Despite this, the two remained in constant contact, and had even considered filming in the second half of 2023, pending Emraan’s approval.
However, the actor had mentioned that he would need to take a break from filming before Diwali due to his commitment to promote Tiger 3, in which he plays an antagonist against Salman Khan’s character. Hashmi, who recently appeared in Selfiee alongside Akshay Kumar, was not available for comment.
