Just days before cameras were meant to roll, Bhagam Bhag 2 has run into a major roadblock that has forced the makers to slam the brakes on a full shooting block planned for March 2026. The sequel, which had lined up Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee and Paresh Rawal for a packed start, is now on hold after a legal tussle involving producer Ekta Kapoor and director Raaj Shaandilyaa.
Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that the film’s immediate schedule has been cancelled, with the production choosing to step back until the dispute is resolved.
The Latest Update
According to information from the development, Ekta Kapoor has initiated legal action against Raaj Shaandilyaa for breach of contract tied to a multi-film agreement. The contention stems from Shaandilyaa allegedly taking up projects outside the agreed arrangement without a no-objection certificate, and without returning the advance connected to the third committed film.
The legal step did not remain limited to the director. A notice was also sent to the film’s producing side, including Ashwin Varde and Cape of Good Films, with the intention of stalling the shoot. With the matter escalating, the producers decided to shelve the March plan rather than risk complications on the ground.
The cancelled plan was a 25-day schedule that was to begin on March 2, 2026, with filming slated across India, including Lucknow. With the schedule now called off, the dates of Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpayee and Paresh Rawal have been released. The development also creates a timing crunch, as prolonged delays can become difficult to navigate once actors lock in other commitments from mid-year.
At present, Bhagam Bhag 2 has effectively moved to the back burner. The film may be revived once the legal issues are cleared, and the possibility of bringing in a new director is also on the table as part of future options being explored by stakeholders.
