Superstar Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the final shooting leg of the highly anticipated horror comedy Bhooth Bangla directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Ekta Kapoor. The final wrap is planned for May 15, 2025, in Hyderabad, bringing a close to a gruelling 85-day shoot across multiple cities.
This film has a prominent Akshay Kumar-Priyadarshan reunion which has been more than a decade in the making. Bhooth Bangla is also the first of three films together, which include Hera Pheri 3 and a thriller still untitled.
A Pan-India Shoot with Mythology
Bhooth Bangla is an ambitious project and well beyond a small-scale shoot. The horror comedy has already been shot in London, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad and includes both indoor and outdoor scenes in its full-fledged theatrical film. The story is inspired by Indian mythology, and it would offer a new take in the horror-comedy space.
The cast of Bhooth Bangla is not lacking, with Akshay Kumar taking the lead along with Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani.
Bhooth Bangla makers revealed that they aim to release in cinemas on April 2, 2026, strategically taking advantage of the spring holiday box office window.
Akshay’s Busy Calendar: Welcome To The Jungle, Thriller with Saif & Hera Pheri 3
After finishing Bhooth Bangla, Akshay should be shooting the remaining parts of Welcome To The Jungle in June 2025. However, this remains subject to change, as the details will only be confirmed by the end of May due to several moving pieces.
After this, the actor will take his family vacation in July, returning to start work on his next project in August — an untitled action thriller with Priyadarshan. Exciting? The film also features Saif Ali Khan opposite him, which gives a very rare and potentially deadly face-off between the two experienced actors. The thriller is slated for a 2026 release.
Also on Akshay’s platter is Hera Pheri 3 — the third in the cult comedy franchise, which is likely to roll in 2026, rounding Akshay’s trifecta with Priyadarshan.

After the success of Kesari 2, Akshay’s line-up going forward is jam-packed. He is set to grace theatres again in 2025 with 2 major tentpole releases in Housefull 5 and Jolly LLB 3 that will ensure his fans will have the opportunity to enjoy some comedy, courtroom style, and family entertainment.
