Rishab Shetty’s next big-screen transformation has just got a major studio push. T-Series has officially joined The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the ambitious two-part historical epic that will see Shetty step into the role of the legendary Maratha warrior king, with Bhushan Kumar backing the project alongside Sandeep Singh.
The new development adds fresh scale and momentum to a film that is already being mounted as a prestige historical drama. As part of the collaboration, Bhushan Kumar honoured Rishab Shetty with a century-old painting of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, underlining the significance the team is attaching to the project as it moves through pre-production.
T-Series Joins The Historical Epic
Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series Films, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is being produced by T-Series Films and Legend Studios. The film is directed by Sandeep Singh, with Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar producing. Rishi Virmani and Sandeep Singh have written the film, while Rishab Shetty, Shiv Chanana and Kabiir Sadanand are attached as co-producers.
The makers are developing the story as a two-part saga that will revisit defining battles, major victories, sacrifices and lesser-known moments from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s life. The film is designed as a large-scale period drama focused on his military brilliance, political vision and the enduring idea of Swarajya.

With pre-production currently underway, filming on The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is scheduled to begin in early 2027. The project is being positioned as an expansive theatrical spectacle with a large ensemble cast and a creative team that includes talent from India and overseas.
For Shetty, the film marks another high-profile move beyond Kannada cinema after the breakout success of Kantara, which turned him into one of the most closely watched actor-filmmakers in the country.
