The hot streak continues for Bobby Deol. Fresh off his cult favourite performance in Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba****ds of Bollywood, the actor has reportedly signed on for yet another major project. This time, he will be teaming up with Ahaan Panday and Sharvari in director Ali Abbas Zafar’s upcoming action drama. The yet untitled film marks another exciting collaboration for Bobby, who has become one of the most in demand actors among Bollywood’s new generation filmmakers.
According to reports, Bobby came on board the project just a week ago. The film will feature Ahaan Panday, who made his debut with Saiyaara, as the lead hero, while Sharvari will play the female lead. Bobby’s role is reportedly that of an adversary to Ahaan’s character, but sources clarify that calling him the villain would be incorrect. His character holds an authoritative position in the story, but there is much more beneath the surface. As the narrative unfolds, Bobby’s character reveals grey shades that influence his dynamics with the hero in unexpected ways.
Not Your Typical Villain
This casting choice is particularly interesting because Bobby has recently made a name for himself playing intense antagonists. His ferocious portrayal in Animal in 2023 became a career defining moment, and he is set to continue that trend in the upcoming Alpha, where he takes on Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as the main antagonist. However, Ali Abbas Zafar’s film will be different. The director and producer Aditya Chopra were certain from the start that they did not want Bobby to play another menacing, all black villain role.
Instead, the team has crafted a larger than life persona specifically keeping Bobby in mind, but with personal motivations and shades of grey woven into the character. This approach ensures that the role stands apart from his recent work. Trade sources suggest that Bobby was drawn to the project precisely because it offers him a chance to explore a different kind of grey character, one that is not purely evil but shaped by circumstances and personal stakes.
Recce And Shooting Plans
The film is currently in the pre production stage, and the cast along with director Ali Abbas Zafar is expected to travel to England soon for a location recce. If everything goes according to plan, filming will officially begin in the first quarter of 2026. The production team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film has a grand visual scale befitting an action drama. With Ali Abbas Zafar at the helm, known for his large scale filmmaking, expectations are high for this project to deliver both action and strong performances.
