Censor Board Suggests 20 Cuts With An A Certificate For Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2

Akshay Kumar is known for doing around five to six films a year. He prefers prioritising quantity over quality, unlike his contemporary actors. One of the most anticipated films of him this year is OMG 2. The film also stars Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi. Ever since its announcement, the film has been generating a lot of buzz. Simultaneously, its makers are also on their toes.

This is mainly because of the religious themes of the film. Earlier, it was reported that the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has sent OMG 2 to Revising Committee. Now, according to media reports, the RC has suggested several modifications to the films. The suggestions have clearly made the makers very uncomfortable who don’t want to compromise with their vision.

The committee has asked for 20 cuts which include both video and audio changes. They have suggested the team go with an A (adult-only) certification. Given that the film deals with the theme of sex education, the team of OMG 2 is not comfortable with the suggestions. Having an A certificate will limit its audience which the makers don’t want. Despite the issue, the team is eager to move forward so that the film can get its scheduled theatrical release on 11 August.

Pankaj Tripathi Responds To The Censor Controversy

While the team is tight-lipped about all this, Pankaj Tripathi has opened up about it. In a recent interview, he addressed this issue. “All I will say is, please don’t believe what is being written about it. Log bahut kuch bol rahe hain. Lekin sachchai samne aayegi jab film release hogi”, he said. The censor board is particularly cautious because of the Adipurush controversy for which they have received a lot of flak.
