Chhaava is gearing up for its grand release on February 14, but not without a few modifications from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The Vicky Kaushal starrer recently completed its censor process and received a U/A 16+ certificate. However, the film had to undergo several changes before hitting the big screen.
CBFC Grants U/A Certification To Chhaava After Major Changes
One of the biggest modifications involved dialogue changes. The phrase Mughal sultanat ka zehar was reworded to Uss samay, kayi shaasak aur sultanat khud ko zinda rakhne ki koshish kar rahe the. Similarly, Khoon toh aakhir Mughalon ka hi hai was altered to Khoon toh hai Aurang ka hi.
The board also muted words like haramzaada and haramzaadon. Additionally, the religious phrase Aameen was replaced with Jai Bhavani.
A scene featuring Maratha warriors wearing sarees was removed entirely in another major revision. A few more dialogues in the first half were modified to align with the CBFC’s guidelines.
The CBFC also asked for adjustments in age references within the film. 16 saal was changed to 14 saal, 22 saal ka ladka was modified to 24 saal ka ladka, and 9 saal was reworded as kayi saal.
To further clarify the film’s intent, the CBFC instructed the makers to add an audio-text disclaimer. It explicitly states that the movie is adapted from a specific book and does not aim to distort historical facts or offend any community.
Total Duration Of Vicky Kaushal Starrer
After implementing these changes, the censor certificate was issued on February 1. The official runtime of Chhaava is now confirmed to be 161 minutes and 50 seconds (2 hours, 41 minutes, and 50 seconds).
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava tells the powerful story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, capturing his courage, struggles, and legacy.
Apart from Vicky Kaushal, it also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai and Akshaye Khanna as Mughar Emperor Aurangzeb. The advance booking of this film has already started and showing a good response.
