Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming film Chhaava is gearing up for its theatrical release. The historical drama has now received its certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The official trailer (released on Jan 22) offered a glimpse into the film’s intense storyline. The first song, “Jaane Tu,” composed by AR Rahman and sung by Arijit Singh, has already gained attention.
Both Vicky and Rashmika are actively promoting the film in different cities and all eyes are now on its release. Ahead of its arrival, the film has passed its mandatory certification process from the censor board.
Chhaava Gets Certified By CBFC Ahead Of Release
The film has been given a U/A certificate, with a runtime of 161 minutes and 50 seconds.
As per the CBFC website, Chhaava was certified on 1 February 2025. It has been assigned a ‘U/A 16+’ rating, meaning it is suitable for viewers above 16 years, while parental guidance is advised for younger audiences. The film’s total runtime is 2 hours, 41 minutes, and 50 seconds.
Vicky Kaushal plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna takes on the role of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
Ahead of the release, Vicky and Rashmika have been busy promoting the film. They launched the first track at an event in Hyderabad. It was followed by a special preview of a trailer at the Kala Ghoda Art Festival in Mumbai.

Rashmika has been recovering from an injury but managed to attend events in a wheelchair. Acknowledging her commitment, Vicky recently praised her and said, “Gliding on that ‘throne’ of yours, you’ve radiated nothing but the true spirit of a Maharani. Thank you @rashmika_mandanna for powering through and doing it all with a glorious smile.”
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. The film also features Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Vineet Kumar Singh, Diana Penty, and Santosh Juvekar in key roles.
Chhaava is set to release in cinemas on February 14, 2025 during Valentine’s Day.
