Multiplex ticket prices often exceed what many can afford, but National Cinema Day changed that. First celebrated on September 23, 2022, cinemas nationwide offered tickets for a mere Rs. 75. Following its success, the second National Cinema Day on October 13, 2023, saw tickets priced at Rs. 99. In the interim, multiplex chains introduced Cinema Lovers Day on January 20, 2023, and its second edition on February 23, 2024, boosted cinema attendance with the releases of Article 370 and Crakk.
Although the next Cinema Lovers Day was anticipated for 2025, audiences are in for a pleasant surprise. This Friday, April 19, cinemas will once again celebrate Cinema Lovers Day, offering tickets at a nominal price of Rs.99.
Movie Tickets To Be Priced At Rs 99 On April 19
Sources told Bollywood Hungama that the Multiplex Association of India has informed all major multiplex chains about the offer. Following previous trends, many single-screen cinemas, smaller chains, and standalone theatres are also expected to participate. Miraj Cinemas has already announced the offer on their social media platforms.
On this day, multiplexes are set to offer tickets at a nominal price of just Rs 99, according to a source speaking to Bollywood Hungama. The Multiplex Association of India is reportedly sending out notifications to all major multiplex chains regarding this special offer. Similarly, many single-screen cinemas, smaller chains, and standalone theatres are expected to follow suit, as seen in previous instances. Miraj Cinemas has already announced the offer on their social media platforms as of yesterday evening.
This move is anticipated to boost films currently screening in cinemas, particularly benefiting new releases. A trade source highlighted the advantages of notable releases such as Dibakar Banerjee’s daring thriller, Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2, and the star-studded romantic comedy Do Aur Do Pyaar, featuring Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy. Additionally, the semi-animated feature Luv You Shankar and the Hollywood dystopian thriller Civil War are expected to attract more viewers with discounted ticket prices.
Eid Releases Bade Miyan Chote Miyan And Maidaan Benefited With This Offer
The source noted that despite disappointing performances, recent Eid releases like Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan may see increased footfall due to the Rs. 99 offer on April 19. Meanwhile, holdover films like Madgaon Express, Crew, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire are already enjoying success, and the discounted tickets are expected to bolster their audience numbers further this Friday.
Under this special promotion, standard seats will be priced at Rs. 99, while premium experiences such as recliners and screenings in formats like 3D, IMAX, and 4DX will be available for Rs. 199.
