Grusha Kapoor, co-star of Salman Khan in Jaanam Samjha Karo, reminisced about her experience working with him on the set of the 1999 film. Despite having a minor role in the movie, Kapoor vividly recalled an incident that unfolded during the shoot.
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Kapoor revealed that during one particular shoot day, the entire unit had to wait for over 10 hours for Salman Khan to arrive on set. Even after his belated appearance, Khan further delayed the proceedings by engaging in chit-chat with the director, causing frustration among the cast and crew.
She stated, “Salman was sitting on the sofa wearing a t-shirt and jeans and he was talking to the director. Suddenly I realised that they were discussing this scene for far too long. I thought, ‘What is this great about the scene that is about to happen’? Me being me, there was no fear, I had nothing to lose. I just turned and snapped at the director – What are we waiting for? It’s almost 9 pm.”
Here’s How Salman Khan REACTED To Grusha Kapoor’s Words
She also revealed Salman Khan’s response to this. The Tiger 3 actor said, “Haan haan, meri costume le aaiye. Chaliye ma’am scene karte hain.” Reflecting on this memory, Kapoor described the situation as funny and said that it wasn’t Salman’s fault.
The film, which also featured actress Urmila Matondkar, required Kapoor to report to the set on Madh Island for a 9 am call time. Arriving promptly at 8:30 am, Kapoor found herself among the punctual cast members, including Matondkar. However, despite their readiness, filming couldn’t commence until Khan’s arrival much later in the day.
Grusha Reveals She Was Unaware Of Salman Khan’s Stardom
Remarkably, Kapoor admitted that at the time, she was unaware of Salman Khan’s immense stardom, attributing her ignorance to her background in television and the absence of social media during that era. Unlike today’s interconnected world, Kapoor explained, back then, an actor’s fame was largely determined by the success of their films, with little influence from online platforms.
By the time Salman Khan finally joined the set, Kapoor and her co-stars, exhausted from the long wait, were eager to wrap up the day’s shoot.
Describing the weariness they felt as television actors accustomed to rigorous schedules, Kapoor praised the professionalism and warmth Khan exhibited upon his arrival, despite the delays.
