With Cocktail 2 just days away from its June 19 theatrical release, attention is building not only around the Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna starrer, but also around what may accompany it on the big screen. Maddock Films is planning a theatrical showcase tied to the romantic entertainer, with Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story and Eetha expected to be the two titles in focus.
If that rollout goes through, Cocktail 2 will serve as more than a franchise release. It will also function as an early big screen launchpad for two very different August films. One is a courtroom-rooted biographical drama led by Rajkummar Rao as special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. The other is a performance-led biographical film with Shraddha Kapoor stepping into the role of legendary Marathi Tamasha artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar.
Maddock Doubles Down On Its August Slate
The current industry chatter around the theatrical teaser plan comes from source-based information around Maddock’s release strategy. The same source material also underlines the studio’s recent pattern of using major theatrical titles to debut key promotional assets, helping build momentum well ahead of release.
Directed by Avinash Arun, Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead, alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher. The film is based on the life and legal journey of Ujjwal Nikam and is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 7, 2026.
Later in the month, Eetha is set to arrive on August 28, 2026, during the Raksha Bandhan release window. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film stars Shraddha Kapoor as Vithabai Narayangaonkar, with Randeep Hooda and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in pivotal roles. Set against the world of Maharashtrian Tamasha, the biographical drama is positioned as one of Shraddha’s most distinctive career moves.
Maddock’S August Rollout With Prahaar And Eetha
The pairing of these two films with Cocktail 2 makes strategic sense for Maddock. Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story brings the pull of a real-life legal figure and a character-driven Rajkummar Rao performance, while Eetha carries strong curiosity value because of its cultural setting and Shraddha Kapoor’s transformation.
The source material also captures how the industry is viewing both titles at this stage. Rajkummar Rao is said to have delivered a remarkable performance as Ujjwal Nikam, while Shraddha Kapoor will be seen in one of the most transformative roles of her career, portraying a powerful and culturally significant character.
Together, the two films give Maddock a strong August corridor. Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story is positioned to open the month with a serious biographical drama, while Eetha is lined up to close it with a larger performance-led spectacle. Even before release, the possibility of both teasers playing with Cocktail 2 has already placed the studio’s August slate firmly on the exhibition radar.
