Akshay Kumar’s much-anticipated film Sky Force is set to hit cinemas on January 24, 2025. The period aerial action thriller, which also stars Sara Ali Khan, Veer Pahariya, and Nimrat Kaur, will be released during Republic Day week, a time that has historically been lucky for Kumar.
His past Republic Day releases like Elaan (1994), Khakee (2004), Baby (2015), and Airlift (2016) were all successful at the box office. The film is directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios.
No More Release For Akshay Kumar This Year As Sky Force Gets Postponed To Republic Day 2025
Initially, there were reports that the teaser for Sky Force would be attached to the Independence Day release of Stree 2, given that both films are produced by Jio Studios and Maddock Films. However, with the decision to delay the release of the Akshay Kumar-starrer, the idea of showcasing the teaser was dropped.
This change also means that Akshay will have no more releases in 2024, after three films this year—Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira, and Khel Khel Mein. Notably, Khel Khel Mein clashed with Stree 2 on August 15, and Kumar even made a hilarious cameo in Stree 2.
Film To Now Arrive In January Next Year
The delay of Sky Force to January 2025 comes after the teaser failed to make it to theatres with Stree 2, leading to speculation that the film wouldn’t make its planned October 2 release date. But what could be the new release date?
A source close to the project confirmed the new date, emphasising that the patriotic themes of Sky Force make it a perfect fit for Republic Day celebrations.
The source told Bollywood Hungama, “Sky Force would arrive in cinemas on January 24, 2025. It’ll be a Republic Day release and is the right time to be presented to the viewers as it’s a patriotic entertainer. An official announcement will happen soon.”
