Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was all set to start shooting for the fifth installment of the popular Housefull franchise from January 15, 2024 but film got pushed to summer of 2024. The film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Tarun Mansukhani, is touted to be India’s biggest comedy with a whopping budget of Rs 350 crore.
Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 5 is getting bigger as it adds to the cast two prominent new entrants. Now as per reports in Peepingmoon, Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar have joined the cast of the most-awaited fifth installment of the popular comedy franchise, set to release in theatres on June 6, 2025.
Cult Comedy Trio Of Welcome Joins Housefull 5
Anil and Nana are venturing into a new comedy franchise after previously playing the iconic characters of Majnu Bhai and Uday Shetty in Firoz Nadiadwala’s Welcome film series. They reunite to play intriguing roles in Housefull 5 alongside franchise regulars Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh.
Chunky Pandey also returns to play Aakhri Pasta, while the casting for other key roles is still in progress. Bobby Deol and several other actors from the previous parts have also been approached, but they are yet to be confirmed.
Nana Patekar Bowed Out Of Housefull 4
Nana Patekar’s casting marks a noteworthy development in the Housefull’s history. The veteran actor was previously supposed to star in Housefull 4, but he was later asked to opt out of the project after he was accused of sexual harassment by Tanushree Dutta, leading to the beginning of the #MeToo movement in India in 2018. He stepped out of the movie, citing the ‘convenience’ of the production team, and Rana Daggubati took his place. Housefull 5 completes the cycle for him as he returns to the same film franchise six years later.
Housefull 5 Postponed To June 2025 Instead Of Diwali 2024
According to media reports, Housefull 5 will feature Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh reprising their roles from the previous films, along with some new additions to the star cast. The film will also have a crossover element, as it will bring together characters from all the previous Housefull films in a hilarious plot. Housefull is set to become the first comic franchise to have 5 films under its kitty.
Housefull 5 will be extensively shot in the UK, where the makers have planned some grand sets and locations. The film is expected to be a visual spectacle with high-octane action, comedy and romance. The film was slated for a Diwali 2024 release, and is expected to set new records at the box office. But film was pushed later to June 2025 and official statement was released for same.
