Daayra Unveils Kareena Kapoor Khan And Prithviraj Sukumaran Solo Posters Ahead Of August 31 Trailer

Two officers, two radically different energies, and one film suddenly bristling with tension. That is the first impression Daayra leaves with its newly unveiled solo posters of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, which arrived on August 29, 2026, just ahead of the trailer launch on August 31. The campaign does not merely introduce characters, it sets up a face-off mood that feels central to Meghna Gulzar’s latest thriller.

Kareena steps into the frame as DCP Ajooni Kohli with flinty authority. Her poster places her against moving trucks, giving the image a sense of momentum and pressure without overcrowding it. The police tape running through the Daayra logo adds another sharp visual cue, suggesting control, conflict and boundaries. Prithviraj, introduced as DCP Raman Kumar, appears in an open field during what looks like a press conference, a setting that adds public scrutiny to the mystery. Together, the two reveals push the film’s trailer build-up into sharper focus just days before its August 31 arrival.

The New Posters Sharpen Daayra’s Core Conflict

The latest reveal makes it clear that Daayra is positioning its two lead officers at the emotional centre of the story. Rather than giving away plot turns, the posters work by holding back, using mood, setting and body language to deepen curiosity around what kind of investigation brings Ajooni Kohli and Raman Kumar onto the same battlefield.

Directed by National Award winner Meghna Gulzar and inspired by true events, Daayra is written by Yash Keswani, Sima Agarwal and Gulzar. The film marks the first collaboration between Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios, while also reuniting Gulzar with Junglee Pictures after Talvar and Raazi. Produced by Junglee Pictures and Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios, and distributed by Pen Marudhar, the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 18, 2026. That backdrop also makes Kareena’s casting especially timely, arriving at a moment when her recent choices have leaned more decisively toward complex, performance-led material.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Recent And Upcoming Work

What makes Daayra especially compelling in Kareena’s current phase is how naturally it extends her recent pull toward layered, adult storytelling. After making her OTT debut with Jaane Jaan in 2023, she balanced commercial visibility with sharper dramatic material across 2024, appearing in Crew, The Buckingham Murders and Singham Again. That mix has kept her screen image fluid, moving easily between star-led spectacle and emotionally controlled performances.

In that context, DCP Ajooni Kohli looks less like a detour and more like a strong next move. A Meghna Gulzar-directed part rooted in tension and authority gives Kareena another opportunity to lean into the kind of performance space that has increasingly defined her most interesting recent choices. As of August 29, 2026, Daayra is her next confirmed theatrical release.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Recent And Upcoming Work

If Kareena’s poster signals command, Prithviraj’s presence completes the two-officer tension that gives Daayra its strongest early hook. His image in the campaign suggests a man carrying pressure inward, making Raman Kumar feel like a character whose silence may prove as revealing as his actions.

Prithviraj arrives in the film with a screen presence that rarely needs excess to make an impact. In recent years, he has moved across ambitious projects including Aadujeevitham, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and L2: Empuraan, reinforcing his reputation for bringing both gravitas and internal tension to high-stakes material. That quality seems to define DCP Raman Kumar too.

His presence gives Daayra a crucial balance within its central face-off. Beyond Daayra, his confirmed theatrical slate also includes Salaar Part 2: Shouryanga Parvam, keeping him firmly in a run of large-scale, performance-led projects.
