De De Pyaar De 2 Box Office Collection Day 4: Ajay Devgn And R Madhavan Film Witnesses 70 Percent Drop On Monday, Earns Rs 39 Crore Total

Can you believe that De De Pyaar De 2 has witnessed such a massive drop at the box office? Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan starrer romantic comedy sequel, which hit theatres this Friday, appears to have failed the crucial Monday test. After opening to a strong weekend with domestic earnings of Rs 38.43 crore, the film recorded its first major drop on day 4. The film earned only Rs 4.77 crore on Monday, bringing its total collection to Rs 43.20 crore. The decline from Sunday’s Rs 15.21 crore is close to 69 percent, a sharp fall given the combined star power and goodwill from the original film.

Monday Occupancy Tells The Story

On Monday, De De Pyaar De 2 registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 9.96 percent across the country. The morning shows started at 6.53 percent, climbed to 9.42 percent in the afternoon, hovered around 10.07 percent in the evening, and closed the night at 13.82 percent. Region-wise, Delhi NCR had the highest number of shows at 1,421 but clocked only 9.5 percent occupancy. Mumbai, with 840 shows, fared marginally better at 13.75 percent. These numbers indicate that audiences are not rushing to theatres to watch the sequel despite the positive word of mouth.

Day Wise Box Office Collections

Here is how De De Pyaar De 2 performed over its first four days at the box office:

DayIndia Net Collection
Day 1Rs 9.45 Cr
Day 2Rs 13.77 Cr
Day 3Rs 15.21 Cr
Day 4Rs 4.77 Cr
TotalRs 43.20 Cr

The film showed strong growth over the weekend, but the Monday crash has raised concerns about its long-term prospects at the ticket counters.

How Does It Compare To Other Films

In relative terms, the film has performed better than Ajay Devgn’s recent release Son of Sardaar 2, which earned Rs 27.1 crore in its first four days. However, it is still lagging behind Raid 2, another Devgn sequel that had reached Rs 71.25 crore by day 4 thanks to an extended weekend. It also trails the last Devgn Madhavan collaboration, Shaitaan, which collected Rs 61.25 crore in the same period. Even when compared to its own predecessor, the numbers are close, as the original De De Pyaar De had earned Rs 44.73 crore by day 4.

The film is also lagging behind several major releases of the year. Housefull 5, led by Akshay Kumar, had already crossed Rs 100 crore by day 4. Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par managed Rs 66.65 crore in the same timeframe. Even Salman Khan’s Sikandar posted Rs 84.25 crore by day 4. Ayushmann Khurrana’s festive release Thamma collected Rs 65.6 crore in its first four days.

What Lies Ahead For The Film

With new titles such as 120 Bahadur, Mastii 4, Tere Ishq Mein, Gustaakh Ishq, and Dhurandhar set to arrive over the next three weeks, De De Pyaar De 2 faces increasing competition. Whether the film can regain momentum during the weekdays or the upcoming weekend remains to be seen. Movie fans will have to wait and watch if the sequel can pick up pace or if this Monday drop becomes the trend for the rest of its theatrical run.
