In the cinema industry, the division between Bollywood and Hollywood is steadily closing. A Hollywood series named ‘Citadel’, which not only features Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the lead role but also an Indian adaptation starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Additionally, in blockbusters like Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction, directors like the Russo Brothers are partnering with outstanding performers like Randeep Hooda. In the midst of it all, Deepika Padukone is supporting South Asian actors.
Deepika co-starred with Vin Diesel in a big Hollywood blockbuster film ‘XXX: Return Of Xander Cage’. South Asian actresses taking on leading parts like Wonder Woman have suddenly become an important thing to the ‘Pathaan’ actress.
In an interview with Times of India, Deepika said, “I think we have a long way to go when it comes to South Asian representation. So I think that’s what I am looking for. I am done for all of us- on behalf of all of us- being the Indian doctor in a movie or the Indian Taxi driver. I want to be Wonder Woman, I want to be Bat Woman and there’s no reason, and when I say I, I mean we. There’s no reason why I want us to be Barbie.”
“I want us to be all of those things and there’s no reason why we can’t be. And so the choice of or the decision to not do these movies is an intentional decision to say- bring me, bring us something that is worth our talent, worth our while and worth our energy.” Deepika added.

Meanwhile the Bollywood industry is definitely moving towards actresses being more than just all about glamour. Katrina Kaif will soon be starring in a movie about a female superhero. With so many action scenes, Deepika herself had a prominent role in ‘Pathaan’.
Deepika Padukone will next be seen in Project K, starring alongside Prabhas.
