At a recent Delhi Belly fan meet, Aamir Khan finally received confirmation from writer Akshat Verma about Delhi Belly 2. The announcement came after Aamir Khan, Vir Das, and Imran Khan reunited for the special event, bringing excitement to fans who have been waiting for news about the sequel. While the cast remains under wraps, the confirmation itself marks a significant development for the beloved 2011 comedy.
Aamir Khan Had Been Requesting Delhi Belly Sequel For Years
During the Delhi Belly press meet, Aamir Khan and Akshat Verma engaged in a conversation about the original film and the possibility of a sequel. When asked about a second installment, Aamir stated, “I would love that. I have been asking Akshat Verma to write it for the past so many years.” His statement received cheers from the audience, highlighting the demand for a sequel to the cult classic.
Akshat Verma initially tried to play it safe, responding cautiously by saying, “If I crack a story that doesn’t destroy the first film.” His hesitation reflected the pressure of living up to the original film’s legacy and ensuring the sequel would maintain the same quality and impact.
Writer Akshat Verma Finally Says Yes To Delhi Belly 2
The breakthrough moment came when Aamir Khan pressured the writer to give a definitive answer. After some back and forth, Akshat finally submitted and confirmed the sequel. “Accha haan, done hai,” Akshat said with a laugh, officially greenlighting Delhi Belly 2. While the timeline for the film’s development and production remains uncertain, the sequel is now officially confirmed and ready to be in the works soon.
The cast for Delhi Belly 2 has not been revealed yet, leaving fans speculating whether the original trio will return or if new actors will take on the lead roles.
Delhi Belly May Re-Release In Theatres
Another audience demand at the event was for Delhi Belly to re-release in theatres. After giving it some thought, Aamir Khan also agreed to re-release the original film in cinemas in the meantime. This would give both longtime fans and new audiences an opportunity to experience the comedy on the big screen again.
During this discussion, Vir Das took the opportunity to softly remind those present about Happy Patel’s release on January 16, 2026. The movie marks Vir’s directorial debut and features both Aamir Khan and Imran Khan in key roles.
