The trailer launch of Deva in Mumbai turned into an interesting discussion. Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde spoke about a range of topics, from box office pressure to their characters’ dynamics.
Shahid Kapoor talked about the struggle to balance creative freedom and commercial success. He said, “While producers invest their money, the pressure is on everyone involved in the film. Nobody wants to be associated with an unsuccessful film. Films are made for the audience, and when the audience doesn’t show up, it is disheartening. Our aim is always to make films that reach as many people as possible.”
Shahid Kapoor Compares Filmmaking To Cricket
He also compared acting to cricket, explaining how actors need to evolve. “If you want to sustain a long career, like in cricket, you need to evolve and adapt. Many players excel in formats like IPL but often struggle on international tours. They take time to learn and grow. Similarly, as actors, we need to take on diverse roles, experiment, and grow over time. Hits and flops are part of the journey, but what matters is a continuous evolution,” Shahid added.
Shahid Kapoor Adds Their Film Deva Is Layered & Intelligent
Shahid also spoke about the essence of the film, saying, “From the start, we’ve said this is a film for the masses, but it’s also intelligent and layered. Every film has a different story and audience, and we must embrace that diversity as creators.”
Pooja Hegde Calls Her Character ‘Alpha Female’
Pooja Hegde was also excited to talk about her character, Diya. She revealed her first-look poster before the event. “Diya is like the perfect ‘takkar’ to Dev’s character. You guys have seen the Alpha male many times. But I think it is time to see the Alpha female because she is not afraid to speak her mind, not afraid to see what’s in her mind,” she said.
She continued to explain more about Diya’s bold personality. “The article where he is being questioned about ‘Police and mafia’ is written by Diya, the journalist who is investigating this. So I feel like she is not afraid to say what she wants to, which represents the girls today. So, I think in the trailer you have seen the softer side of Diya, which is also a part of her.”
With the trailer of Deva creating high expectations, fans are eagerly waiting for its release. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Pooja Hegde, and Pavail Gulati, and is directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Backed by Zee Studios and Roy Kapur Films, Deva promises to blend commercial appeal with deep storytelling, making it one of the most awaited films this year.
