Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor are set to reunite under the Dharma Productions banner, six years after their debut together in Dhadak. Directed by the acclaimed National Award-winning filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan, this new project promises to be an emotional human drama.
Television actor Vishal Jethwa, known for his antagonist role in Mardaani 2, will also join the cast in a prominent role.
Janhvi Kapoor & Ishaan Khatter’s Next Expected To Begin In October
A source close to the project revealed to Peeping Moon, “It’s a well-written, ensemble-cast drama that Neeraj Ghaywan has been working on for the past two years. Both Janhvi and Ishaan have enormous admiration for the director’s work and quickly came aboard the film as it offers them roles that are a complete departure from what they played in Dhadak. They had been itching to collaborate once more since their first movie and are thrilled to have found the perfect reunion recipe in Neeraj’s film.”
The film is currently in pre-production and will begin filming in Bhopal in October 2024.
Neeraj Ghaywan’s 2nd Feature Film After Masaan
This marks Neeraj Ghaywan’s second feature film after his critically acclaimed debut, Masaan, which starred Vicky Kaushal. Since then, Ghaywan has focused on OTT projects, directing episodes of Sacred Games Season 2, Made in Heaven Season 2, and a segment in Dharma Productions’ anthology Ajeeb Daastaans.
This new film marks his first feature collaboration with Karan Johar, following an attempt to team up on a biopic of Arunima Sinha with Alia Bhatt that did not materialise in 2019.
Janhvi Kapoor & Ishaan Khatter’s Work Front
For Janhvi Kapoor, this film continues her ongoing association with Dharma Productions, marking their sixth collaboration after Dhadak, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Mr and Mrs Mahi, and the upcoming Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Varun Dhawan. Ishaan Khatter, on the other hand, returns to Dharma Productions for his second film with the banner.
In terms of upcoming projects, Janhvi Kapoor will next be seen in Ulajh, a gripping thriller from Junglee Pictures, scheduled to release on August 2. Directed by Sudhanshu Saria, the film features Janhvi as a young diplomat embroiled in a dangerous personal conspiracy. She also stars in Jr. NTR’s pan-India action entertainer, Devara Part 1, set for release on September 27.
Ishaan Khatter also has two Netflix shows lined up: the international series The Perfect Couple, alongside Nicole Kidman and Dakota Fanning, and a romantic drama series, Royals, with Bhumi Pednekar.
