Aditya Chopra & Shridhar Raghavan Collaborate For Franchise Reboot
Aditya Chopra is officially back on the horse with Dhoom 4! After a decade of speculation and yearning, the next chapter of India’s most stylish action genre is now official. Industry hearsay states Chopra has collaborated with writer Shridhar Raghavan to finalise the script of Dhoom 4, and Ranbir Kapoor is leading the way.
“Aditya Chopra is personally involved in the scripting of Dhoom 4. The reboot is being meticulously structured to match global benchmarks in action storytelling while taking Ranbir’s character and personality into account,” said an industry insider.
Ranbir Kapoor Leads A Rampant Heist Film
Dhoom 4 will usher Ranbir Kapoor into a new generation of franchise films with Dhoom. The series will not continue from Dhoom 3 but is considered to be a proper reboot with stunts you’ve never seen before and a whole new visual aesthetic, completely separate from the YRF Spy Bunny, and a cinematic universe entirely its own.
“Ranbir is the perfect artist to lead a revival. He brings a perfect mix of charm and unpredictability, ideally suited for a character who is navigating police bike chases while exploring his own moral compass,” added the source.
Ayan Mukerji Expected To Direct
Ayan Mukerji is expected fully to direct the sensation post-WW2; he has not been officially announced as the director, but all signs point towards Mukerji. Mukerji is currently in post-production on War 2 (August 15, 2025) and is expected to go into pre-production for Dhoom 4 at the end of this year and plans to shoot at the start of April 2026. If everything goes to plan and the film wraps at the end of 2026, the film could be released in 2027; it will be one of YRF’s main features on their next slate.
Ranbir’s Busy Calendar: Love And War, Dhoom 4
Now he’s working on Love And War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali; then he will work on Ramayana Part 2 with Nitesh Tiwari. Once these two films are completed, he will turn up for Dhoom 4 in summer 2026.
The Animal star is becoming one of the busiest actors and one of the biggest actors in Bollywood, Brahmastra 2 and Animal Park on his plate.

YRF’s Dhoom 4 has really started to come together, and it seems to be the reinvention fans have been waiting for for more than a decade. With Ranbir Kapoor on board, Aditya Chopra writing the story and Ayan Mukerji likely directing, the franchise is stepping up its game for a global action extravaganza.
There will be stylish bikes, wild heists, and a character-based story that will challenge the notion of being a Dhoom villain or hero.
