Just when Dhurandhar 2 seemed ready to let its box office chatter and franchise appeal dominate the conversation, the sequel has been pulled back into a courtroom clash that refuses to fade. The latest mediation attempt between Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios and Trimurti Films has ended without a settlement, pushing the film’s song rights dispute into a more combative legal phase and keeping the spotlight fixed on an off-screen controversy.
The battle centres on Dhurandhar 2 track “Rang De Lal (Oye Oye),” which Trimurti Films said drew from the Tridev song “Tirchi Topi Wale” without the required permission. The matter had already reached the Delhi High Court, where it was sent to mediation after the court treated the dispute as primarily financial.
Mediation Push Fails To End Song Rights Battle
That route has now failed, sending both sides back toward a legal face-off. During the earlier hearing, Trimurti Films argued that the copyright in the disputed song belonged to it, while the defence maintained that rights over the material rested with Super Cassettes Industries. The conflict over who had the authority to commercially use the track remains the crux of the case.
When the matter came up in April 2026, the court did not grant an interim injunction against the film. It did, however, direct that revenue records linked to the film be preserved from its March 19, 2026 release onward. With mediation ending without resolution, the dispute now returns to the courtroom, where questions of ownership, permission, and use are expected to drive the next round.
A Blockbuster Sequel Now Fighting An Off Screen War
Dhurandhar 2, also known as Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is a Hindi spy action thriller directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. Ranveer Singh heads the cast, with Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in key roles.
Released on March 19, 2026, the film arrived as the follow-up to Dhurandhar and carried the scale, ensemble cast, and franchise expectations of a major Hindi event title. That is precisely why the unresolved copyright fight over one of its songs has grown into a bigger talking point than a routine legal filing. Instead of fading into post-release business, the sequel now finds its public narrative increasingly shaped by what happens in court next.
