Ranveer Singh Starrer Dhurandhar The Revenge Lands In Legal Trouble As Trimurti Films Sues Makers Over Song Rights

A major Ranveer Singh release being dragged into court over a song was not on Bollywood’s bingo card this week, but that is exactly where Dhurandhar 2 has landed. Trimurti Films has sued the makers of the action spectacle, alleging that Rang De Lal used in the film draws from Tirchi Topiwale from Tridev without proper authorisation. For a film that arrived with scale, swagger and serious theatrical heat, the legal twist has instantly changed the conversation.

The row centres on the recreated track’s connection to the 1989 chartbuster, and that has put one of the film’s most public-facing elements under scrutiny. Instead of the usual post-release chatter around songs, performances and box office pull, Dhurandhar The Revenge is now facing a courtroom battle over whether the reused material was lawfully cleared before it made its way into the film and its promotions.

Trimurti Films Puts The Song Rights Dispute Before Court

In its plea, Trimurti Films has sought to stop further use of the track and has also asked for damages and related relief. The company has alleged copyright infringement tied to the song’s use across the film’s release cycle, turning a musical flashpoint into a full-fledged legal fight.

The original Tirchi Topiwale was composed by Anand-Milind, written by Sameer Anjaan, and sung by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee. Trimurti Films has argued that the recreated version in Dhurandhar The Revenge borrows protected material from that song and was used without the permissions required for such an adaptation. That claim has put the spotlight squarely on how an old hit was repackaged for one of the season’s biggest Hindi titles.

Why The Case Matters For A March 2026 Tentpole

The timing gives the dispute added weight. Dhurandhar The Revenge arrived as a high-voltage theatrical event, mounted on a large action canvas and sold as one of March 2026’s big-screen attractions. Film became all time blockbuster with 900 crore nett India and 1500 crore worldwide gross. When a song tied closely to a film’s identity comes under challenge, the issue spills far beyond paperwork. It touches the trailers, the digital push, the recall factor and the afterlife of a soundtrack built to travel with the film.

That is what makes this case especially striking. In today’s film landscape, songs are not just album fillers, they are part of the aura of a release. A rights battle over one of those tracks places an unwanted headline next to a film that was meant to dominate for its scale and star value.

Ranveer Singh Faces Noise Around A Key Release

As the song-rights battle gathers attention, it also folds into the larger story of where Ranveer Singh stands right now. Dhurandhar The Revenge is his latest release after Dhurandhar couple of months back, following Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023 and Cirkus in 2022, and it keeps him planted firmly in the big-event zone of mainstream Hindi cinema.

That is why this controversy lands loudly. A star-led spectacle is now carrying legal baggage alongside its commercial conversation, and that puts Singh’s current phase under a brighter lens. Dhurandhar 2 is being discussed not just for its ambition and scale or massive historical success, but for the courtroom storm attached to one of its songs.
