Ranveer Singh‘s Dhurandhar, which has been making waves at the box office, is now facing serious backlash from an unexpected source. The widow of SP Chaudhary Aslam, whose real-life story inspired Sanjay Dutt‘s character in the film, has come forward with strong objections about how her late husband has been portrayed. She is not holding back and has even threatened legal action against the makers.
The action-packed film draws inspiration from Operation Lyari, a major covert operation that took place in Karachi. Sanjay Dutt essays the role of SP Chaudhary Aslam, a police officer known for his controversial methods. While the film has been performing well commercially, the family of the man who inspired this character is deeply unhappy with certain aspects of the portrayal.
The Wife’s Strong Objection To A Dialogue
Noreen, the widow of Chaudhary Aslam, appeared on a podcast by Dialogue Pakistan and shared her thoughts about the film. She revealed that her husband had been a big fan of Sanjay Dutt ever since watching Khalnayak back in the 1990s. She was initially confident that the actor would do justice to her husband’s personality and character on screen.
However, one particular dialogue in the trailer has left her deeply upset. The trailer features a character describing Aslam as the offspring of the devil and a djinn. Noreen finds this line extremely offensive and disrespectful. She stated that such words are not only an insult to her husband but also to his mother, who she described as a simple and honest woman.
Legal Action Warning Issued To Makers
The grieving widow did not mince her words when expressing her displeasure. She emphasized that she and her family are Muslims and that the dialogue crosses a line of basic respect. Noreen made it clear that if she sees her husband being portrayed wrongly or any propaganda against him in the complete film, she will take all possible legal steps available to her.
She also questioned why Indian filmmakers could not find other subjects and always chose to malign Pakistan. Her statement reflects the sensitive nature of creating films based on real-life incidents involving cross-border tensions. The family clearly feels that the portrayal has been misleading and does not honor the memory of Chaudhary Aslam appropriately.
