Tamannaah Bhatia has become a hallmark of memorable dance performances! Following Stree 2’s Aaj Ki Raat and The Ba***ds of Bollywood’s Ghafoor, she is the first individual that springs to mind when discussing standout tracks.
Dhurandhar choreographer Vijay Ganguly originally envisioned her for Shararat. Nevertheless, the idea was turned down by director Aditya Dhar. Focusing on the storyline rather than star power, the director opted for Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza, aiming to keep the emphasis on the plot instead of a single star.

In a conversation with Filmy Gyan, Vijay shared, “There were numerous candidates and auditions evaluated for the two roles.”
When asked if Tamannaah was considered, he replied, “In my mind, she was (the one). I had put her name forward, but Aditya sir was adamant that he did not want what is often referred to as an item song, something that strayed from the narrative. If it were solely about one girl, it would have diverted attention from the story. That’s why there are two girls instead of one. He didn’t want the spotlight to be on just one individual. If it had been Tamannaah, it would have been centered around her and not the storyline.”
He also mentioned how the wedding reception scene of Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun was vital and contained much more than just the dance sequence. Aditya aimed to maintain the focus on the narrative, even for a brief moment. Hence, Shararat was regarded as “merely a cut-to song.”
It seems the casting decision paid off for Aditya. Both the song and its leading ladies have captured the audience’s affection online. Similar to the title track, Fa9la, and other songs from the movie, this one is trending on social media.
