Tamil director Atlee Kumar, who is riding high on the success of his blockbuster hit Jawan, expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan and hailed him as the epitome of stardom and grace in Indian cinema. He also expressed his desire to work with SRK again.
Atlee had a remarkable debut in Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan last year. The action-packed film, released on September 7, 2023, shattered box office records by grossing over Rs 700 crores worldwide within just 10 days.
Atlee Spoke About Jawan And Possible Collaboration With Shah Rukh Khan
Recently, at an event, Atlee shared insights into his future projects, igniting curiosity among fans about the potential sequel. “I am not sure about it. But I will write something, I will surprise. Every film had a chance of coming up with a sequel but I always surprise the audience with more, different content. So, I will come up with something. Let’s see,” Atlee told ABP.
When questioned about the possibility of teaming up with SRK again, the director-producer expressed, “Of course, there is no denial. We will work together. When, how, what, it’s all with Shah Rukh sir.” Atlee further praised SRK as the most fun and emotionally driven person to work with. He also commended SRK’s punctuality and his significant involvement in the filmmaking process.

However, discussions about a sequel to the film are not entirely new. In a prior interview with Pinkvilla, Atlee was questioned about the possibility of a spin-off centered around a specific character. With a smile, he suggested Vikram Rathore, the elder version of SRK’s character in the film. Regarding a sequel, Atlee shared that while many of his films have open endings, he would only consider making a sequel if he came up with a strong idea.

Jawan narrates the gripping tale of a prison warden who teams up with inmates to expose corruption and injustice through daring crimes, leading to an unexpected reunion. In the film, SRK portrayed dual roles as Captain Vikram Rathore, an ex-commando, and Azad, the jailer of a women’s prison who is also Vikram’s son. Apart from SRK, the film boasts a stellar cast including Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in pivotal roles. Joining them are acclaimed actors Deepika Padukone, Sanjay Dutt, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Girija Oak, Lehar Khan, Sunil Grover, Ridhi Dogra, and many more.
Film went on to break every possible record with 1150 crore worldwide gross and first Hindi film to cross 600 crore nett barrier in India.
On the professional front, Atlee is currently busy with the production of the upcoming action film Baby John. It stars Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead roles. The movie is a collaborative effort between co-producers Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, and Jyoti Deshpande, operating under their Cinel Studios and A For Apple Studios production banners.
