When master storyteller Imtiaz Ali announces a film, everyone pays attention. His next big project, a drama set during the Partition, is already making waves with its lead cast of Vedang Raina and Sharvari. A Fresh Movie On-Screen Jodi
The biggest news for fans is the fresh pairing of Diljit Dosanjh and Banita Sandhu. The two actors will be seen opposite each other, and they have already started shooting for the film. Recently, Diljit and Banita were spotted filming a few scenes near the iconic Asiatic Library in Mumbai, giving fans a sneak peek into their collaboration.
A source close to the film revealed how Banita, who made her debut with Varun Dhawan in October, came on board. Apparently, Imtiaz Ali saw her performance in the film Detective Sherdil and was so impressed that he decided to cast her opposite Diljit. This pairing is already generating a huge buzz, and audiences are eager to see their chemistry on the big screen.
A Story Of Love And Partition
Imtiaz Ali’s untitled film is set against the emotional backdrop of the 1947 Partition of India. The movie will explore two different love stories. The story featuring Diljit and Banita is said to be set in the pre-partition era, taking place in Mumbai and Punjab. Besides the romance, the film will also focus on the heart-wrenching stories of families who were forced to leave their homes and migrate during that tough time. The first shooting schedule for the film began in August 2025.
What’s Next for the Film?
The team is currently shooting in Mumbai and plans to move to Amritsar, Punjab, in October for the next schedule. This will happen once the flood situation in the state gets better. The casting is still in progress, as the makers are in talks with two senior actors to join the project for important roles.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Diljit and Banita have shared screen space. They previously worked together in Diljit’s popular music video ‘Jind Mahi’ back in 2018. Their previous collaboration has fans even more excited to see them together in a full-fledged feature film.
