When Karan Johar’s Dostana released back in 2008, it surely dropped many jaws by bringing in a progressive gay-love-story. Though the John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra starrer came in with twists and turns still it will be remembered for its unconventional storyline.
Now, the master is back with a sequel and its fresh cast in Kartik Aaryan, Lakshya & Janhvi Kapoor. The time has changed since then & Karan will have to take care of every small detail in order to make the subject of the film not look caricaturish.
In a report published in an online portal, he said, “The evolution is from one Dostana to the other. Dostana one that released in 2008 and the Dostana 2 that’s releasing in 2020, you will see that the representation is accurate, non-caricaturish and on point, talking about sexuality in a way that will not make you cringe while watching it.”
He also added, “Therein lies the fact that in the last 12 years, there has been a solid change in the way we depict gay characters. Even in Kapoor & Sons and the way it was depicted.”
