Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 Locks Gandhi Jayanti 2026 Release, But Will It Clash With Shah Rukh Khan’s King?

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 is set to hit cinemas on October 2, 2026, the same day Shah Rukh Khan’s King is rumored to release. Will Bollywood witness a mega face-off?

Drishyam 3: Silence Breaks with a Bang – Set for October 2, 2026

The silence is about to get lifted again, but this time, it could be a bang at the box office.

Ajay Devgn’s long-gestated thriller, Drishyam 3, is all set to be released on October 2, 2026. The announcement has generated curiosity within Bollywood with its potential as a box office clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming actioner King.

Gandhiji Jayanti & The Drishyam Universe

Not only does this date promise relatively fruitful box office head-to-head business for two theatrical releases, but it also has larger implications in the Drishyam universe. October 2nd has always been more than a National Holiday — in part 1, it was a degree question involving the case going on —
“kya kiya tha 2nd October ko?”, and the part 2, which has psychological orientation, led towards the end of the movie to a specific dialogue referencing the day “kya kiya tha 2nd October ko?” in a way to develop tension. So ultimately, October 2nd and the Gandhi Jayanti celebration have come to be understood within the Hitchcockian mind games developed by Vijay Salgaonkar.

Thus, it was completely natural in some Britain-idea-based way to set the Drishyam 3 release on this specific date.

In an announcement made formally to the Bombay Stock Exchange, Panorama Studios announced that they will start shooting Drishyam 3, beginning filming in August 2025. The film will be directed by Abhishek Pathak, who directed the blockbuster film Drishyam 2.

Co-produced by Viacom18 Studios and Digital 18 Media, the film is the third instalment in the story of deception, tactics, and sacrifice revolving around Vijay Salgaonkar.

Clash of Titans? Drishyam 3 Vs King

On top of the excitement, reports are already surfacing that Shah Rukh Khan’s King – directed by Siddharth Anand and featuring Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Rani Mukerji – is also targeting an October 2, 2026 release, though the production team hasn’t officially confirmed this yet – but speculation is speculation.

If the two productions hit cinemas on the same day, it will be one of the most significant cinematic clashes in some time – Ajay Devgn‘s Vijay Salgaonkar vs SRK’s King with a mysterious undertone.

What To Expect From Drishyam 3

The Drishyam series centres around Vijay Salgaonkar, an ordinary man with extraordinary intellect, who is capable of unspeakable things when it comes to his family’s eagerness. Following Drishyam 2‘s successful end with the climactic twists executed quite brilliantly, audiences are right to be highly anticipatory of the unfolding story for the second and final time in part three.

Devgn’s Upcoming Projects

Before Drishyam 3, Ajay Devgn will be seen in the rom-com De De Pyaar De 2, co-starring R Madhavan and Rakul Preet Singh. He was last seen in Raid 2, which received a decent response from critics and audiences alike. Devgn will be seen in Drishyam 3 with the capability of highly intelligent plot twists, emotional resonance and dark-style storytelling; it can make history as one of the most anticipated Indian thrillers in memory.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict

Drishyam 3 is a masterclass in franchise development, and Drishyam 3 on October 2 isn’t just about poetic justice — it’s also strategic. However, if Shah Rukh Khan‘s King is in fact there too, we could see a nail-biting, high-stakes face-off, reminiscent of Diwali.
