Shah Rukh Khan is on a roll this year. After the smashing success of Pathaan and Jawan, the superstar is ready to deliver his third and final hit of 2023 with Dunki, a comedy drama directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film, which also stars Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and others, is based on the illegal migration of Indians to countries like Canada and USA through a backdoor route called ‘Donkey Flight’.

Boman reveals that Dunki has turned out very well
Boman Irani, who plays a London-based lawyer in the film, recently attended the inauguration of CINTAA House in Mumbai and praised the film and his co-star. He said that Dunki has turned out very well and is going to be ‘Shah Rukh’s hat-trick’. He also revealed that he had a great time working with Hirani and Khan, whom he called ‘two of the finest storytellers in the industry’.
The first poster of Dunki was leaked last week, showing Shah Rukh Khan in a soldier’s attire with the tagline ‘A soldier’s journey to keep a promise’. The film is slated to release on December 21, 2023, around the Christmas week. It will be Shah Rukh Khan’s first collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani, who is known for his blockbuster films like Munnabhai series, 3 Idiots, and PK.

The film centres around migrants and their woes, who are in search of a better life. In the recent wake of India-Canada relations going through some tension, reports of SRK’s film Dunki started surfacing, claiming that it is based on the story of ‘donkey flight’ — a route used by illegal migrants to leave India and move to other countries, namely the US and Canada. Not too long ago, social media was rife with reports that the film tells the story of migrants moving to Canada.
However we reported a few days back that a source tells that these reports are inaccurate and the film has nothing to do with Canada. They said, “While the film does deal with the issue of immigration, it isn’t based in Canada or has anything to do with Indians based in Canada. It is a very sensitively made film that deals with a man’s journey of trying to find a better way of life and the various emotions he goes through while doing so.”
As per Box Office Worldwide’s trusted industry source, there is a very important romance track between Shah Rukh and Taapsee’s characters which forms the center of the film. There is also a love song between the two that has been shot very beautifully.
Dunki is expected to be another record-breaking film for Shah Rukh Khan, who has already set a new benchmark of 1000 crore collections with his previous two releases. The film has generated a lot of buzz among the fans and critics alike, who are eagerly waiting to see the king of romance in a different avatar.
