Ed Sheeran confirms recording a Hindi song for Shah Rukh Khan's film King, marking his official Bollywood singing debut. The British star’s comment sends fans into a frenzy.
Ed Sheeran Officially Joins Bollywood With Shah Rukh Khan’s King – And Arijit Singh’s There Too!

International pop icon Ed Sheeran has officially jumped into Bollywood music after working with Shah Rukh Khan on Sapphire, featuring Arijit Singh; and yes, it was for none other than the much-anticipated SRK film called King.

Ed Sheeran Dropped The Hint – In The Comments!

Ed’s fans were delighted when he posted behind-the-scenes footage from the making of Sapphire – a vibrant new track featuring the one and only Shah Rukh Khan – but what really made everyone shake with excitement was the fan club post that had been speculating whether Ed was working on a Hindi version of the song or if he was recording something entirely different.

(Check Out)

Ed Sheeran himself jumped in and put that speculation to rest with his comment that read:

“The Hindi song was for a Bollywood movie SRK is doing, this is the Punjabi version of Sapphire with Arijit. I’m just doing all languages at this point.”

That one line cemented it: Ed Sheeran has sung for a Hindi film starring Shah Rukh Khan, and unless there is another undisclosed project, fans assume this can only refer to King.

All Roads Lead To King

King is Shah Rukh Khan’s next cinematic offering in a film directed by Siddharth Anand. Not only does it showcase SRK in a powerful new avatar, but it also features his first ever on-screen pairing with daughter Suhana Khan.

The film boasts an all-star cast including Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukherji, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Arshad Warsi. So with a film as big as this, an entry from a global musical superstar like Ed Sheeran does seem aptly placed.

Interestingly, fans noticed Siddharth Anand as well as Ed Sheeran were seen in the same BTS video of the shooting – making it more likely that this is indeed a King collaboration.

A Global Crossover Moment For Bollywood

If this does get confirmed, it will be Ed Sheeran’s first Bollywood track – and there is no bigger Bollywood film than King. After Shakira and Rihanna declared their love for Bollywood, Ed’s entry confirms a growing love for Indian cinema from the West.

The Shape of You songster is already a household name in India, and with his Hindi song set to come out soon, he’s sure to capture even more hearts.

What Kind of Song Could It Be?

We don’t know anything about the nature of the track, but given Ed’s versatility, it could be anything from a romantic ballad to a haunting action theme. Considering King’s speculated genre and mood – a stylised action drama with shades of grey – it could be a powerful montage or even just a theme track.
