Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha will go probably in history books for dubious reasons unprecedented protests by section of paid & hired netizens, bought critics and trade experts reporting one film with other barometer & Laal Singh Chaddha with other parameter and weight of criticism due to being first official remake of an Oscar winning film.
Aamir Khan starrer also clashed with Akshay Kumar starrer Rakshabandhan which made matter worse. Film had long length and then mixed reviews dented it further.
Film opened low and it never grew much on day one. It managed to collect 11.70 cr nett and that was ongoing below par number on day one considering past record of Aamir Khan. Film failed to grow and rather fell on day two by 35% plus.
It collected only 7.26 cr nett. Yesterday due to holiday affect kicked in and that’s why it grew by 5%. Film collected 9 cr nett.
Film again managed a very below par Sunday despite Holiday affect with 10 cr nett number. Film managed to score 7.87 cr nett which was again 25% drop which means film dropped again today and did not get help from Parsi New year bank holiday and collected 2 cr nett. The film dropped down again on day 7 and collected 1.60 cr.
Film has 7 – day total of 49.43 cr nett which is poor despite 5 day holiday period. It will not have a good 2nd week and lifetime total of 60 cr looks possible.
Now it’s clear that 75 cr nett can not be breached by end of the run although seems 60 cr nett more realistic target. Damage has been done already and final fate can’t be altered.
Film collected 31 cr (3.9 million $) in overseas market in three days and crossed 44 cr (5.6 million $) by end of 4 – day weekend. Film has done tremendous business in Australia and Canada which is at par/better than Super Hit films. Overall overseas total is excellent and will be good.
