Shivam Nair of Naam Shabana fame is making a film on Delhi girl Uzma Ahmed who was rescued from Pakistan after she was forced to marry at gunpoint.
The film is based on Delhi girl Uzma Ahmed who fell in love with a Pakistani taxi driver, Tahir Ali, during a trip to Malaysia. But her fairy tale turned ugly as soon as she stepped into the neighboring country only to find that he was married and father to four children. After a wedding at gunpoint and subsequent escape to the Indian high commission, Uzma finally returned to India with the help of the then Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.
John Abraham plays an Indian diplomat JP Singh under Sushma Swaraj. He will start shooting the film in October after he will finish Maddock’s Tehran which he is shooting in the UK right now.
The film was in news in 2019 when Saif Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor were touted to play the lead. But later those talks fizzled out. Now the film is ready to go on the floor with a fresh cast. The film was earlier titled Uzma but now it will have a new title which will be announced shortly.
It is produced by Fortune Pictures with Wakaao Films. While Wakaao is headed by Ashwin Varde and Vipul Shah, Fortune Pictures is a venture created by Sameer Dixit, Jatish Varma and Girish Johar.
