EXCLUSIVE: KK Menon To Play Chetan Anand Opposite Jacqueline In Pradeep Sarkar’s Film Based On True Events

The movie's male lead, Chetan Anand, will now be played by KK Menon.

There are plans for Chetan Anand and his wife Priya Rajvansh’s narrative to be adapted for the big screen. It is now learnt that Chetan Anand and his partner Priya Rajvansh’s biopic, which is scheduled to begin production in a month, will be directed by legendary filmmaker and actor Pradeep Sarkar. Producer Deepak Mukut is behind it. Additionally, we now know that Jacqueline Fernandez will be reprising her role as Priya Rajvansh in this biography set during the height of Indian film.

“Jacqueline Fernandez will be playing the character of Priya Rajvansh and she is damn excited to slip into this real life character. It would be the first biopic of her career and she has been extensively doing all the workshops to slip into the world that Pradeep Sarkar is trying to create,” revealed a source close to the development to Pinkvilla.

Putting Jacqueline aside, the movie’s male lead, Chetan Anand, will now be played by KK Menon. A critically regarded actor was cast in the movie, but owing to scheduling conflicts, he had to withdraw at the last minute. The film will follow the glitzy history of Hindi cinema from 1921 until the early 2000s. It will highlight Chetan Anand’s ascent to fame as the face of Indian film around the world, his relationship with his brother Dev Anand, his romance with Priya Rajvansh, as well as the controversy surrounding and mystifying death of Priya in the early 2000s.

“The story has multiple shades – from cinema to romance to some mystery. Everyone around is excited to take the film on floors in the month of August,” the source added.

Producer Deepak Mukut confirmed saying, “There’s nothing to hide in this. Yes, we are making a film on the lives of Chetan Anand and Priya Rajvansh. The ace filmmaker, Pradeep Sakar will be directing the film, with Jacqueline Fernandez as Priya. We are in the process of rope in an actor to play Chetan Anand. We go on floors very soon as the prep work has already begun.”
