Ajay Devgn is one of the biggest superstars in Bollywood. In his long and successful three-decade career, he has been a part of some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful films of all time. One of his most awaited films has to be the period sports drama Maidaan, which has been stuck for so long. Now after the trailer and first song, finally film has received censor certification.
Ajay Devgn Starrer Maidaan Receives Censor Certification
Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan is cleared by censor without any cut and ‘U’ certification. Film is ready to release on 10th April. Film has runtime of 3 hour 2 minutes which might limit its number of shows in multiplexes. Film’s advance booking will start a week before release from 2nd April.
Talking about the film, producer Boney Kapoor had earlier said, “I was amazed that not many are aware of someone as significant as Syed Abdul Rahim. He’s an unsung hero whose achievements must be saluted. His team had heroes like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh. It takes someone like Ajay Devgn to play Syed Abdul Rahim. With him on board, I can just hope that our film inspires youngsters to play football and India soon to bring the World Cup home.” The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.
The film will clash with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s upcoming film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is all set to release on Eid. It will be released in cinemas on April 10 this year. Film will also release in IMAX format.

Ajay would be essaying the role of Syed Abdul Rahim to tell the story of this unsung hero who was responsible for taking Indian football to new heights and winning accolades for the country. The team at that time comprised of illustrious players like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh.
Maidaan is directed by Amit Sharma and backed by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Zee Studios. The film stars Ajay Devgn as football coach Syed Abdul Rahim and will focus on India’s golden football period between 1952–1962. Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh also appear in supporting roles. The film was initially slated to release on 23 June this year but was again postponed. However, now people are hopeful that it will finally see the light of day after multiple delays.
