With the Hindi version of the 1994 Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks & Robin Wright, Aamir Khan is ready to rule the box office. The Hindi version, Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, Manav Vij, and Naga Chaitanya Akkineni in his Bollywood debut, will be released on August 11.
It’s interesting to note that Bollywood has attempted to remake Forrest Gump before. Anil Kapoor was supposed to play the major role in Kundan Shah’s Forrest Gump remake, according to a rumor from the early 1990s.
The script was revised and modified by the director of timeless films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa with Indian sensitivities in mind. Anil Kapoor was forced to drop out of the remake due to date complications, but later Kundan Shah managed to bring Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa actor Shah Rukh Khan on board.
Unfortunately, the movie was unable to begin production for unknown reasons, and Kundan Shah eventually decided to shelve it a few years after the announcement.

Over twenty years later, Shah Rukh Khan played the title role in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan, which was inspired by Forrest Gump and might be viewed as SRK’s interpretation of the Tom Hanks-starring classic.
