Announcing Kuttey and sharing its motion poster on social media on Monday, Tabu wrote: “Nah ye bhonkte hai, nah gurrate hai…bas katte hai (They don’t bark or growl, they just bite). Presenting #KUTTEY!”

However, following the announcement of the poster and teaser, we discovered that the new poster is a rip-off of a horror film called ‘The Farm.’

This isn’t the first time a Bollywood film’s poster has been plagiarised. Many films have copied posters from Hollywood, the South, or other sources. Here are a few of the posters:

Anjaana Anjaani (2010) poster is copied from An Education (2009):

PK (2014) poster is copied from Quim Barreiro’s (2006)

Badlapur (2015) poster is copied from 300 (2007)

Hulchul (2004) poster is copied from My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

Zero (2018) poster is copied from french movie Un Homme À La Hauteur? (2016)

Ugly Aur Pagli (2008) poster is copied from TV Series ‘Til Death (2006)

Rowdy Rathore (2012) poster is copied from The Replacement Killers (1998)

Heroine (2012) poster is copied from Mariah Carey’s promotional photos for her The Emancipation of Mimi (2005) album

Marjawaan (song) from BellBottom (2021) is copied from Digital Creator and influencer backpackdiariez

Talking about ‘Kuttey’, Vishal Bhardwaj has directed Tabu in films such as Maachis (for which he provided music) and Talvar (as a screenwriter and producer), as well as Maqbool and Haider (both the film also starred late actor Irrfan Khan). He has worked with Naseeruddin Shah on a number of films, including Omkara, Dus Kahaniyaan, Ishqiya, 7 Khoon Maaf, and Dedh Ishqiya, all of which were released in 2014.
