For the past few days, there has been a strong buzz in the industry that Akshay Kumar was all set to star in the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit, Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Reports suggested that he would be teaming up with producer Dil Raju and director Anees Bazmee for the project. However, we can now confirm that this news is incorrect.
Sources close to the development have clarified that the Bollywood superstar is not a part of this remake. The rumors have been put to rest, and it seems fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Akshay and Anees Bazmee reunite on screen.
Setting The Record Straight
According to a source, Akshay Kumar did watch the original Telugu film, Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which stars Venkatesh Daggubati. However, he watched it simply as a movie lover and has no plans to remake it in Hindi. The collaboration with Dil Raju and Anees Bazmee on this particular project is not happening.
“He had seen the Venkatesh film a while back as a cinema lover, but he’s not doing the Hindi remake,” a source revealed, putting a full stop to all the speculation. While this news might disappoint some fans, there is still a silver lining.
A Different Akshay-Anees Film In The Works?
The same source also confirmed that while the remake is off the table, Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee are definitely talking about working together on another film. The details of this potential collaboration are being kept under wraps for now, but it’s clear that the successful actor-director duo is keen on reuniting for a new project.
Akshay has an incredibly busy schedule ahead. His upcoming film slate is packed with big titles like Haiwaan, Bhagam Bhaag 2, Welcome To The Jungle, and Hera Pheri 3. He was most recently seen in Jolly LLB 3 alongside Arshad Warsi and is now gearing up for Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy, Bhooth Bangla.
