Fighter: Hrithik Roshan’s Aerial Action Film Beats Top Gun Maverick, Dunki And Salaar On OTT, Clocks Over Massive 12.4 Million Views In Two Weeks On Netflix!

All eyes were set on 2024, with Hrithik RoshanDeepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor starrer film Fighter being the the first big release of the year. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand, post the success of War and PathaanFighter, which released on January 25 coinciding with Republic Day holiday.

Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter, after its theatrical run has ended, is making noise on the OTT platform. The film was touted to be a big money spinner at the box office, and though it did reasonably well, it wasn’t up to the mark considering the scale and cost.

Thankfully, it is now reaching more audiences on the small screen, and in fact, it has defeated Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’ Salaar with its debut numbers.

Fighter Failed To Soar High At Box Office

Hrithik and director Siddharth Anand worked together on Bang Bang and War in past. Both films were successful at the box office and enjoyed a good theatrical run. This time, to give a much better experience to the viewers, a much bigger budget was spent, and it ultimately took a toll on the film’s verdict.

Due to higher budget, Fighter failed to emerge a clean success against its Indian collection of 220 crore nett. In isolation, this number looks good, but a much bigger total was expected from the film.

Fighter Scores Big On OTT

Fighter arrived on Netflix on 21st March, and ever since its arrival, the film has been enjoying a bumper response. As per officially published data by the OTT giant, it has enjoyed 5.9 million views globally during its opening week (18-24 March). In the Films (Non-English) category, it grabbed the 3rd spot in the debut week, which speaks volumes about the genuine interest in the Hrithik Roshan starrer among viewers.

On the Non-English language chart, Fighter, almost a Top Gun Maverick made in India, had 6.5M Complete Global Views on 2nd week, actually going up +10.2%, hitting 12.4 Million global views in just 2 weeks in the chart, already beating the entire runs of Dunki (10.4 million complete views in the 3 weeks it stayed in the chart) & Salaar (3.5 million complete views in the 2 weeks it’s stayed in the chart.

Curiously, Top Gun Maverick – the original – which debuted on Netflix the week before Fighter did, already vanished on week 3, just lasted 1 week in the chart with 1/4 of the total views of the Indian film accumulated so far.
