Fighter In Trouble: Deepika Padukone Unfollows Siddharth Anand, Skips Trailer Event And To Skip Media Interviews; What Caused The Rift?

Fighter marks the third time that director Siddharth Anand and Deepika Padukone have worked together, after their first film Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008 and the blockbuster Pathaan last year. The film has been generating a lot of buzz ever since it was announced, and the hype grew with the release of the songs and the posters.

However, a Reddit user noticed that Siddharth and Deepika have stopped following each other on Instagram. Not just that Deepika Padukone also missed the trailer launch event this morning and it’s been reported that she’s likely to give media interviews a miss. Read on to find out more.

Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Anand unfollow each other

It appears that Deepika Padukone has unfollowed the director on social media, possibly due to a disagreement. And director also isn’t following her on social media. This was spotted by a Reddit user whose post has gone viral on social media, leading to rumours of a possible rift between the two.

It is evident from Siddharth Anand’s social media behavior that he only follows a select few accounts, amounting to 20. He is following the official accounts of the actors who are part of Fighter, such as Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi. He also follows some other celebrities like Tiger Shroff from War, Shah Rukh Khan from Pathaan, Arjun Kapoor, Mahira Khan, Bipasha Basu, and a few more. On the other hand, Deepika Padukone has a broader range of accounts that she follows on her social media platform, totaling 186.

It is unclear whether they ever followed each other on social media. However, since Siddharth follows almost all of his co-stars, it would be surprising if he did not follow Deepika’s account.

Deepika Padukone not to give media interviews for Fighter?

According to an insider as reported by ETimes, Deepika Padukone will not be giving media interviews for her upcoming movie, Fighter. In addition, rumors of her pregnancy have been circulating on social media after she expressed her desire to become a parent soon. She also gave trailer launch a miss, as she fell sick right before the event.

Deepika Padukone’s Instagram story on skipping Fighter trailer launch

Today, on January 15th, just before the Fighter trailer release, Deepika Padukone took to her Instagram story to hint that she might be skipping the launch event as she has fallen sick and wished good luck to the team. A rift between Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Anand?

A News 18 report claims that Deepika Padukone is upset with the makers of Fighter because she has a smaller role and lesser screen space than Hrithik Roshan in the movie. This is the reason why she has not been promoting the film actively, why she’s skipped trailer launch event and why she’s likely to not participate in further promotions. If the rift rumours are true then, a very long Bollywood friendship might come to an end.

When Siddharth Anand was all praises for Deepika Padukone

During Pathaan promotions, director Siddharth Anand had said: “Deepika Padukone, apart from being a fantastic actor who has grown with each film, is also the hottest actress of our country. Casting her for the character in the film was as organic as it could get. She can be vulnerable and yet very, very sexy just effortlessly.” “So, when you have her in the film, you have to present her in a way that does complete justice to her,” Siddharth Anand added.

On Deepika Padukone in Fighter the director had said, “We are on the journey of creating something special. With Fighter, he will work with Deepika Padukone once more and promises to present her in a whole new light. She played a spy in Pathan, and will play an air force officer in Fighter, according to Siddharth, she is portraying a real, grounded character, and her research was excellent. Although in Pathaan hers was a commercial-extravagant role, but in Fighter, she is very authentic, she is doing a lot of action and crazy stuff.”
